1919: The photo is probably of Robert in his 'Local Lay Reader' robes at St Barnabas, Mill Hill, Waverley NSW. He played an active part in the life of that church. This was shown by a letter dated 16 Jun 1916 to a friend who was serving overseas in Egypt in the WW1, which said that Robert was Treasurer of the Sunday School and of the Debating Society at the local Church. At that time Robert worked as a clerk in Government Stores at Alexandria, Sydney.
