1834 OS map of Tatngilta bordering on Lissan, with northern margin of Unagh. In the centre is the Lissan Staples Demesne. Just SW is a circular rath marked "fort". This is the Birch Hill area. Note the houses which feature in the photos as remains. At the bottom of the photo is a circular copse… this is the lower corner of James LANE's property.
