“In memory of John Taylor Strong. Died June 23rd 1918. Aged 37 years. At rest.”
Note the pink granite (?) plaque bonded horizontally to a cracked cement slab… relatively earthquake-proof? The grave was originally unmarked, until John Taylor’s brother William Aberdare STRONG bought the plot four years after the burial, which allowed him to erect the memorial stone.
