We have this silver basket (EPNS) in our wall unit! The inscription reads:
B.C.I.S. 1st Champion Breeders Prize. Norwich Plainheads won by W.J. Ewart 1914.
A later newspaper report said: “CANARY IMPROVEMENT SOCIETY 21st ANNUAL SHOW. The Brisbane Canary Improvement Society opened its 21st annual show of canaries, Australian, British and foreign birds at Wickham-street, Valley yesterday. The collection of the respective varieties is as fine as any yet caged in Brisbane. NORWICH PLAINHEADS -Yellow clear, or ticked: W J Ewart First and special.”
